Install & Setup Myriad Playout 6

In following this installation guide, it is assumed that you are installing Myriad 6 on a new Windows machine (or at least one that has not used Myriad software previously) and that you want to create a ‘stand alone’ system, i.e. a system running Myriad Playout, your database, and all supporting apps from one sole machine.

Following this documentation also assumes that you have already installed Microsoft SQL Server, and that you have a machine suitable for running Myriad Playout and associated applications.

Documentation for Installing SQL and for details of our recommended PC specs can be found at the links below :

If you are intending to run Myriad Playout 6 as an evaluation version, you can alternatively use a simplified version of SQL called ‘LocalDB’, which we will also cover in this guide should you wish to use it.

LocalDB is similar in functionality to SQL Express except that it is limited to only work with the local user account on the local PC. The advantage is that there is little setup and it is installed and configured as part of the Myriad setup procedure.

It is possible to migrate a LocalDB to a full SQL Express database later on, but it is a complex process. We recommend considering your LocalDB installation as an evaluation only. If you do need to migrate an evaluation database to a full database, we can assist with this for a small charge.

Download & Install Myriad Playout 6

  1. Open your preferred web browser and navigate to https://www.broadcastradio.com/myriad-6-playout-support
  2. Navigate to Current Full Release and select the Download button for Myriad Playout v6:
  3. Save the installer (BRMyriadPlayout6.exe) to a location of your choosing. Once downloaded, navigate to                     that location in File Explorer to view the installer:

  4. Double click the installer to run it. You will be presented with a number of screens in the Installation Wizard, which we will cover step by step for you from here. For now you will be presented with the initial Welcome screen. Click the Next button:
  5. Next is the license agreement. Click on the ‘I accept the terms of the license agreement’ option and then click the Next button
  6. The next page will ask you to confirm you want to install the software. Click the Install button. You may be asked by Windows whether the application should be allowed to be installed. This is part of the built-in security settings for Windows, so just click on the Yes button if/when prompted.
  7. Once the installer has finished, you can either tick the Launch Myriad Playout v6 box if you want to continue             immediately with the software’s setup, or leave unticked to just complete the installation. Setting Up Myriad Playout 6 Using The Setup Wizard

  1. The first time you run Myriad Playout 6, you will be asked to enter a valid license code for the product. For now, we will assume you do have a valid product license, though if you do not and wish instead to enter evaluation mode, please jump to step 3 of this section. Otherwise, click Install License when ready.
  2. Copy your license key into the License Key field and press Install. The License key will then be checked and validated. Alternatively, if you have a license key file (.lic file), you can opt to Load License. When finished, click the Close button to continue with the Setup:
  3. Whether activating a license or opting for evaluation mode, you will now be presented with the first screen of  the Setup Wizard.
For this guide, we are opting to use Quick setup for local use, which is the appropriate setup for running Myriad from one machine, as discussed at the start of this article. Select this option, and click the Next button:
  4. The next screen allows you to confirm your database. If you have previously installed Microsoft SQL Server as per  the guide referenced at the start of this article, Myriad will automatically detect and list this database for use as detailed in the upcoming reference image.
    1. If you have not installed Microsoft SQL Server and wish to use LocalDB, this will be an available option in the dropdown for Database connection for you, which Myriad will install as part of the Setup Wizard.
    2. If you are unsure of which option you wish to use, please refer back to the start of this article first before proceeding.
    3.  You can also select the folder path for where your Myriad Data will be stored, i.e. your audio files, user profiles, etc.
  5. By default this location is as shown in the below image, but you can tick the Manually enter a location box to browse to the your own location. Once satisfied with your options on this section, click the Next button:
  6. On the next screen, you will be prompted to set the basic information of your station, as detailed below. Once satisfied with your choices, click the Next button:
  7. If you opted to use LocalDB, at this stage you will be given an on-screen prompt to allow its installation, click OK to proceed.
  8. Whether you opted to use LocalDB (and it has completed installation) or not, the remainder of the setup process will now run, and you will be presented with a completion window as detailed below. Click the Finish button to launch Myriad Playout 6:
