Audio files imported into Myriad 6 Playout have 'soft' normalisation and trimming applied by default. This process calculates both the start point of the audio and the scale factor needed to achieve the target normalisation for the selected Media Range, but does not apply these to the waveform data in the audio file. Instead the information is stored within the Media Item and applied automatically as the item in played within the system. This means that both trimming and normalisation are non-destructive towards the imported audio file.
This video explains how it works.
