Myriad Playout/Schedule v6 - Import Wizard/Update Media Item Wizard

Modified on Tue, 6 Jan at 3:27 PM

TABLE OF CONTENTS

The Import Wizard and Update Media Item Wizard can both be used to import audio andor titling/timing/copyright information etc. from a variety of different sources, however, if you are using Myriad Schedule Pro with a third party/external Playout system, then you can also use the Wizards to import some scheduling information direct from those databases.  For more information about importing direct from Music1 please see this help article.

When using the Import Wizard, Audio files can be imported in their existing format, converted to the MediaWall format that is configured in Myriad Playout, or converted to a specific format.  Which format to use is specified in the Import Wizard settings for that session and cannot be set differently on a file-by-file basis per session.  Normalisation can be done using the setting for the Media Range, or Peak, or RMS normalisation, again on an Import session basis for all files in that session.  Files can optionally be Auto-Topped and have their Extro automatically detected if required.

Supported Audio Formats

  • .wav (PCM + IMA ADPCM)
  • .opus
  • .flac
  • .mp2 and .mp3
  • .aac and .adts
  • .m4a and .mp4
  • Myriad Audio Transport Files (.zip)

Supported Audio Bit Depths

  • 16-bit, 24-bit, 32-bit

Metadata Support

  • CartChunk (wav only) - Titles, Genre and Timing information
  • Broadcast WAV ("BEXT") (wav only) - Titles only
  • mp3 IDv1, IDv2 - Titles and Genre
  • Ogg Vorbis tags - Titles and Genre

Myriad Transport Files (.zip extension)

Transport files contain an audio file and an XML file with the metadata about the audio item, for example titles, categorisation and timing points.  Transport files imported by the Import Wizard are kept in the existing audio format.  Metadata can be overridden if the Transport file is specified in a list file containing the metadata in columnar format as detailed in the table below.

Loading Multiple files from a 'List' file or spreadsheet:

Text file:

A simple ".TXT" file can be used to import a large number of files in different locations. Each filename must be on a single line and may be surrounded with quote marks but these are optional.

CSV file or TSV file:

A ".CSV" or ".TSV" File can be used to list files with additional 'override' information.

CSV files use a comma to separate the values in the file, whilst TSVs use a TAB character. TSVs are preferable as commas often appear in Item Titles causing the wrong information to be imported

Excel Spreadsheet

.xls (Excel 8.0 or later)

.xlsx (Excel 12.0 or later)

An Excel ".XLS" or ".XLSX" file can be used to list files with additional 'override' information.
List files contain a row for each media file to be imported, and optionally includes media metadata and properties to be assigned to the Media Item upon importing.

Media Item Fields

The available fields and their supported list file column names are as shown in the table below.

If the header contains any spaces - for example "Item Title", then these will still match are optiIf a header includes spaces — for example, "Item Title" — those spaces are optional and will be ignored during matching. Header names are also not case-sensitive, so "Item Title" and "itemtitle" will both correctly match the media items Title field.

Important when using the Update information wizard: If  you want to CLEAR the value for a certain Media Item field - for example to remove the Gender assigned to a song - then you need to set the value in the field to the specific string <CLEAR> which tells Myriad to remove any existing value already set for that field. The exception is for timing fields such as Intro/Hook etc. which should be set to "0" or "00:00:00" to show you want them to be set to zero.

Import Wizard Settings

Import Media Files Page

Allows you to browse and select audio files to import into the Media Wall.

  • Add Files - Browse and add one or audio files to be added to the import list.
  • Add Folder - Select a folder and all audio files in the folder will be added to the import lst.
  • Add A List- Select a file that contains a list of the content to be imported.
  • Save The Lists -Save the current import list for future use.
  • Item Titling - Select the method used to import Title and Artist information, from the drop-down list.
  • Separators - This option is enabled if filename is selected for Item Titling. It allows you to specify the character that separates the Title & Artist.
  • Replace And with <And>- Allows multiple artists to be imported correctly.
  • Set Item Type - Specify whether to import as Songs, Links, Adverts etc.
  • Set Category- Import content into the selected categegory.

Import Audio Format Page (disabled for Myriad Schedule Pro in 3rd Party Playout Mode)

Allows you to choose an audio format for the import. This option is not displayed if the Media Wall format is fixed.

Audio Format Options

The three options are:

  • Convert the audio to match the MediaWall format - Converts all files to the same format as the MediaWall as set in Myriad Playout.  This is the default option.
  • Import the audio in its current format - Does not convert the audio when importing. NOTE. Audio files in some formats can be imported into Myriad Playout but will not be available for playback if using the Smx v4 audio engine.
  • Convert the audio to a specific format - Will convert all audio files in the import list to a specific audio format.

Normalise files after import - The three options are:

  • Use the Media Range setting from Myriad Playout -  This will normalise all files according to the normalisation setting for the Media Range that each item is imported into.  If no Media Range is defined for a Media ID that a file is imported into, no normalisation is performed.
  • Use Peak normalisation - Normalise the imported files using Peak normalisation to the specified percentage.  The default is -4dB.
  • Use RMS normalisation - Normalise the imported files using RMS normalisation to the specified percentage. The default is -8dB.

Other Options

  • Automatically set the Extro using the threshold setting in the Myriad database.
  • Automatically trim silence from the start of the Audio ('Top').

NB.  If the Myriad Database options to always detect Extros or Auto-Top are set then these 2 options are turned on and cannot be changed.

Destination Media Page

There are four options for determining which Media ID to import a file into.  They are:

  • Import into empty Media Items sequentially - This will import each file starting from the Media ID specified.  If a Media ID is in use, then the next empty item will be used, unless the option "If a Media item is not empty, overwrite it" is turned on, in which case items will be imported in a continous sequence starting from the specified ID.
  • The filename contains the destination Media ID - The first group of digits found in a filename will be used as the Media ID to import into.
  • The Cut ID in the files contains the Destination Media ID - The Cut ID in the cart chunk of the audio files, or the Media ID specified in a list file, will be used as the destination Media ID.
  • Automatically choose a Media ID from the Item Type - This option chooses the first empty Media ID in the Media Ranges specified for the Item Type of each file.  This requires that either Set Item Type is enabled on the Import Wizard, or each file has an Item Type either in the file metadata or in the List File if importing from a list.

Additional Options:

  • Add or subtract a number from the Media ID.
  • If a Media item is not empty, overwrite it.

After Import options

  • Leave the source files where they are.
  • Move successfully imported files into an Imported subdirectory in the directory where each file is located.
  • Delete the source files

Duplicate Finder Page

The Import Wizard can optionally search the open Myriad Database for Media Items with the same Title and Artist as each item being imported.  You should review these if you do not want any possible duplicate items to be imported.  Items to import that the Duplicate Finder detects possible duplicates for can be removed from the import list prior to importing.

Summary Page

The Summary Page shows which items will import, which items will not import, and the failure reason.  This page also shows the Media ID that each file will be imported into depending on the Wizard Settings.  This is the last page before the import process so this page provides the ability to review the files, titling, categorisation, destination Media ID etc. before the import runs.

Import Report

After the Import Wizard has completed you have the option to view and/or save an HTML report file containing a list of all items imported or which failed to import, along with any errors encountered during the import process or any errors encountered parsing rows in a List File.

Third Party Playout System Support:

Barrcode audio files:

The audio file must be in a supported audio format (see above) and there must be a file next to the audio with a ".BCX" extension. "Title", "Artist", "Genre", "Auto Start", "Auto Out" and "Intro" timing are all read from this file.

Dalet audio files:

The audio file must be in a supported audio format (see above) and there must be a file next to the audio with a  ".CSV" extension - "Title", "Artist", "Intro Start", "Intro End" are all read from this file. Note: the file must contain a column titled "Interpret"

RCS Audio Files:

If the CartChunk 'ProducerAppID' field is set to 'RCS' and the tagText contains a "<m:Media" XML snippet then the following fields are read from the Wav file:

·          "trimStart" - Audio can be cropped to this

·          "trimEnd" - Audio can be cropped to this

·          "runTime" - mapped to Extro

·          "hookStart"

·          "hookEnd"

·          "intro1" - mapped to Intro Start

·          "intro3" - mapped to Intro End
