Remote Edit Server (RES) enables your Myriad 6 Playout and Myriad 6 News systems to connect to Myriad Anywhere (cloud or self hosted) to allow remote administration and contribution via the Myriad Anywhere web interface.
In this article, we will walk through the process of installing and configuring RES 6 to connect to a cloud hosted Myriad Anywhere instance.
- Start by downloading the latest RES installer from the Broadcast Radio website (https://www.broadcastradio.com/myriad-6-playout-support#Download), click on the button to access the latest release and then select the Myriad Support Applications option on the popup window. This will download the installer file to your downloads folder (or similar).
- Browse to the installer file and double click to run it. Follow the onscreen instructions to install the RES application. There are no options in the installation process so it is just a case of clicking 'Next' a few times and confirming any User Account Control (UAC) prompts that appear.
After a short time, the installation will be complete.
- Click on the Remote Edit Server icon that has been added to your desktop.
- Before RES runs for the first time, it searches for valid X509 Certificate for the application, if one is not found, you are prompted to create one automatically. Click on Yes to continue.
- Depending on your windows security settings, you will likely also be asked to confirm that RES can make changes to your system. Click Yes to continue.
This will result in a 'command' window opening and some scripts being automatically run to configure the network and port settings to allow RES to securely connect to Myriad Anywhere.
Once the process is complete, the 'command' window will close automatically.
- Next you will see the RES Settings Window which can be used to add the basic settings you need to configure in RES.
- The first thing you need to set is the location of your SQL Server. The application will automatically set this to the default local installation (if available) and display a green tick
if a test connection is successful. You can also change the location by clicking on the
button and manually setting the SQL Server location.
Please note that if you have already configured Myriad 6 Playout on this PC then the SQL Server location will be automatically set correctly.
- Next, set the location of the Data Files that Myriad will use.
Click on thebutton to browse to the correct location.

- The next step is to select the Myriad Station database that RES should connect to. Click on the Select Myriad Station button to open the Station Database selector window.
If you have already created your Myriad Station database then select the option you want and click on OK. If you have not yet created a Station database and the selection window is empty (as in the screen shot above) then you will need to create a new Station database.
- Click on the New Station database button.
- Give the Station a name. This should be the name of your radio station as it will be displayed when people connect to the Station via Myriad Anywhere. When you are happy, click OK.
- Make sure your new Station database is selected and then click on OK.
- Click on the New Station database button.
- The selected Myriad Station database will now be displayed in the Options section.
- All the basic information is now set. Click on OK to close the settings window.
N.B. You can access this at anytime via the Settings Menu > Myriad Remote Edit Server Settings option.
- Remote Edit Server is now running but we still have to connect it to our Myriad Anywhere service. In this example, we will connect to a cloud hosted instance of Myriad Anywhere.
Self hosted - If you are using the self hosted option then the process is very different as the self hosted solution connects directly to RES which means you can skip everything below.
- Click on the Anywhere Cloud menu option and select Install / Start The Anywhere Tunnel Service.
- You will be prompted to visit your Broadcast.Radio account to get the API Key which will be needed to connect to your Myriad Anywhere portal.
Click Yes and login to your Broadcast.Radio account.
- Select the Myriad Anywhere instance you want to connect to from the list of available options.
- This will open the Myriad Anywhere Cloud page within Broadcast.Radio. Click on the Manage Anywhere Tunnel Connection button to drop down a list of options.
Finally, click on the Copy to Clipboard option in the API section. This will copy the API key.
- Back in RES, you will see that RES will have opened a webpage to allow you to paste in the API key we just got from Broadcast.Radio. If for any reason, the page is not open, you can manually open it with the Anywhere Cloud Menu > Open Tunnel Status Page Option.
Paste in the API key and then click on save. After a few seconds, the page will update to show that RES has connected successfully to your Myriad Anywhere Cloud instance.
- You can now finished configuring Remote Edit Server to work with Myriad Anywhere Cloud. You need to leave RES running at all times to allow remote access via Myriad Anywhere. When you minimise RES, by default it will be represented in the 'sys tray' so it is less likely to be manually closed by a user.
To access RES, open the 'sys tray' and click on the Remote Edit Server icon.
