What's new in Myriad Playout v7?
Myriad Playout v7 is a MASSIVE release and contains dozens of new features including Show and Presenter Management, integrated Listener Requests, completely redesigned AI Voice Links, full Stream Deck support as well as a lot more. You can see the release announcement on our dedicated Release Notes website https://www.myriadreleasenotes.com/release/dab4i-myriad-playout-v711-beta-release
Where can I download Myriad Playout v7?
Full and Beta versions are both available from the Myriad Playout Technical Support page on the main Broadcast Radio website.
Currently Myriad v7 is available as a Beta version, but will be available as a Full Release by the end of the year.
What about Myriad Anywhere and Myriad Cloud?
Myriad Anywhere v7 is already available and you will be automatically switched over to it when you install the new version of Myriad Remote Edit Server via the Support Applications installer.
Myriad Cloud will be available in the next few weeks and we'll post about that in the Facebook Group as soon as it's ready.
We are aiming to release the first Myriad Anywhere Self-Hosted v7 once Myriad Playout has completed its first Beta testing phase.
How do I get the Stream Deck Plugin?
You can see the full details for how to install the plugin and configure it to work with Myriad in this help article.
Can I use the new Beta version On-Air?
Myriad v7 has been extensively tested On-Air as part of our private beta testing and has proven extremely reliable, but ultimately the decision as to whether to run this on air is up to you. We do provide limited Technical Support for our beta versions, however in the event of any significant issue, then our advice will always be to first switch back to the previous Full Release (v6), so you should make sure that you and your fellow users understand how to do that if they do have difficulty.
Can I install the new version on my existing Myriad Playout v6 computer?
You can indeed, and Myriad v7 will automatically upgrade your database to enable the new features that are part of Myriad v7. Although this does make some small changes to your database structure, this process will not affect Myriad v6 itself, which you can continue to use.
Important: Whilst you can use Myriad v7 on a computer that is also used to run Myriad v6, you should NOT run both applications at the same time. This applies to Myriad Playout and Schedule but ALSO to all of the Support Applications such as Remote Edit Server, OCP, AutoImporter etc. You should close the older v6 versions before launching the v7 versions to avoid them conflicting with each other.
You can safely run Myriad Playout v7 on one computer, whilst another is still running Myriad Playout v6. However, one thing to be aware of is that you cannot use SmartTransfer to transfer between studios if they are running different major versions.
Don't forget that if you are using Myriad Playout v7 with the same live data that is also being used by Myriad v6, any changes you make will affect both versions, for example editing audio etc. Any features that are new to v7 will not be understood by v6 - for example, setting a Start/End position on a Media Item in the Segue Editor.
Can I install v7 on a computer running Myriad Playout v5?
We would strongly advise not to do this as the database structures are significantly different and you are likely to have difficulty with your Myriad v5 system afterwards.
If you are looking to upgrade to Myriad v7 from v5 then please contact us first and we can help you carry out the upgrade in a safe way, as well as helping you set up a separate test environment first so you can evaluate Myriad v7 without affecting your v5 data.
What order should I upgrade the various Myriad Applications in?
Normally we advise that you upgrade the Support Applications first - for example your Remote Edit Server, BUT because this is a brand new version, we recommend the following process:
- Take a full backup of all of your data first. This includes the audio files as well as the SQL Database. Although we have tested the upgrading process extensively, it never hurts to have a safe copy anyway!
- Install Myriad Playout on a single test machine so you can learn about and test the new features.
- Install on any additional computers as needed for your evaluation process.
- Install the Support Applications, but before you run the new versions for the first time:
- Close Auto Importer, OCP and Backup v6
- Within Remote Edit Server, use the menu options to open the local status page and make a note of your Tunnel API key.
- Use the Remote Edit Server menu options to stop and uninstall the Anywhere Tunnel Service
- Close Remote Edit Server v6
- Run the new Remote Edit Server v7 software, and use the menu options to install the new Tunnel Service, and enter the API key you made a note of above.
- You can now run the other applications such as Auto Importer etc.
- If you were previously running the Management service v6, go into Windows "Services" on your computer and stop the old Myriad Management Service v6 and change its Startup Type to "Manual" or "Disabled", BEFORE starting the new v7 Service.
- Finish installing Myriad on any other computers as necessary.
If I do need to go back to Myriad Playout v6, what do I do?
Just reverse the steps above for the upgrade process, making sure to stop and disable the Myriad Management Service v7 BEFORE restarting the v6 service. If you have any questions please do raise a ticket and we'll be happy to help.
How do I download the Management Service?
The Management Service is now integrated into the new Myriad Support and Management Applications installer so you no longer have to install them separately.
Will it run on my existing computers or do I need new PCs?
Myriad v7's hardware requirements are the same as Myriad v6, so any PC that was already running v6 should be able to run v7 without any need to upgrade. You can see our recommended minimum specifications in this help article.
How do I report an issue with a Beta version?
First have a look at our Software release phases explained article which explains what a Beta version is. If you do have a problem or a suggestion, please do get in touch - just click the Submit a Ticket button above and let us know what you've found and any steps to reproduce the issue to help us track it down.
Do I need new License and Station Enabler Codes?
Yes you do, but not immediately. Myriad will run for up to 30 days on an "Evaluation" license, including running unrestricted for the first 4 days. After the first 4 days, sessions are limited to 30 minutes at a time, but you can contact hello@broadcastradio.com at any time to discuss getting your new License and Enabler codes. For more information see this help article.
Is it a free upgrade?
The vast majority of Myriad Playout v6 users are on subscription, and the upgrade to v7 is already included. If you did purchase 'outright' with a one-off fee then just drop hello@broadcastradio.com a line and they will be able to go over the options with you.
When will Myriad v7 be available as a Full Release?
We are expecting it to be available as a Full Release before the end of 2026.
