Getting content into Myriad Playout 6 is quick, flexible, and designed to suit a variety of workflows. Whether you're adding a single song, a batch of files, or recording something live, Myriad provides several methods to do so efficiently.
Method 1: Drag & Drop Directly onto the Media Wall
The easiest and fastest way to add content is by using drag-and-drop:
Open a file browser on your computer
Locate your audio file(s)
Drag the file(s) into an empty space on the Media Wall
Key features:
Multiple files can be dragged in at once
Myriad will automatically normalize audio (top & tail) and apply an extro
Media items are automatically classified based on the range you drop them into
(e.g., dropping into a Songs range sets the item as a Song; dropping into a Links range tags it as a Link)
Method 2: Using the Import Wizard
For bulk importing or more controlled imports, use the built-in Import Wizard:
Right-click on an empty media tile
Select Import Wizard
Choose:
A set of individual files (top right) or
A folder containing multiple audio items (top right)
From here you can:
Set the media type (e.g., Song, Advert)
Assign a category (e.g., Pop, News, etc.)
Configure audio conversion and normalization (depending on your user permissions)
Run a duplicate search to avoid importing the same item twice
The wizard provides:
A summary view before final import
Automatic assignment of title, artist, type, and category
An optional report once the process is complete
Once finished, the new items are added to the Media Wall and are immediately available for use.
Method 3: Recording Audio Directly into Myriad
You can also record live audio directly into the system. There are several ways to start a recording:
Option A: Record into a Specific Media Item
Select a media tile
Click Record in the toolbar
OR
Right-click and choose Record
This will record directly into the selected media item.
Option B: Use the Recorder Panel

Click Click Here to Record
This method will:
Automatically use the next available media ID in your personal recording range
Save your recording there after you confirm the save
Note: Each user can be assigned a personal recording range in system settings.
Once you're done:
Click Stop
Confirm that you want to save the recording
Your new audio will appear on the Media Wall, ready for categorization and editing.
What Comes Next?
After importing or recording media, be sure to:
Assign proper categories
Set timing points like intros, hooks, and extros
Add metadata like artist, title, and year
These steps ensure content is properly classified and plays back as expected — especially when used in logs or automation.
