Exploring the "Other" Tab in Myriad Playout 6

Modified on Fri, 11 Apr at 1:08 PM

The Other tab in Myriad Playout 6 provides additional settings and metadata fields for fine-tuning how your media items behave, appear, and integrate with external systems. These settings are especially useful for automation, playback control, and administrative tracking.

This article walks through each field available in the Other tab.

? Playback Volume Gain

  • Playback Gain allows you to manually adjust the audio playback level for this media item.

  • It works as a scaling factor based on the range’s target normalization level.

  • This is enabled by default in Myriad 6 and is applied non-destructively at playout.

Use this field to balance levels for items that sound louder or quieter than expected.

⏱ Allow Time Stretching in AutoFade

  • This setting is only available for Songs and Basic Media Items.

  • If enabled, Myriad will slightly stretch or compress the duration of this item during automated segues to help logs stay on time.

Ideal for clock-synced automation with tight transitions.

? Bind Another Media Item

  • You can bind another media item to play:

    • Before

    • After

    • Or whenever this item is played

  • Great for:

    • Automatically adding a station ID before a song

    • Following up a voice clip with a related track

  • To use:

    1. Choose the binding direction

    2. Enter the Media ID of the item to bind

Example: If “Proud” is bound with a Hot FM Sweeper, the sweeper will play before or after every time that song is played.

? Album & Year of Release

  • Album: Manually add or edit the album title

  • Year: Indicates the original release year of the track
    (Usually filled automatically during import)

? Out Cue Field

  • Used to store the last words or phrase in a recording

  • Especially useful for:

    • News stories

    • Interviews

  • Helps presenters or automation systems cue content transitions more naturally

? Start, End & Delete Dates

  • Start Date: The first date this item can be played/scheduled

  • End Date: The last date the item is available

  • Delete Date: When reached, the system will automatically remove the item from the Media Wall

Content outside the start/end range will be hidden by default in the library view.

? External Reference & Custom Fields

  • External Reference is used when integrating with:

    • Third-party music schedulers

    • External database systems

  • Music Brainz Recording ID is used to store the Music Brainz ID for the item.

  • Custom Reference Fields allow you to:

    • Store additional system-specific IDs

    • Add internal tags for cross-platform syncing or automation

? Database Metadata

At the bottom of the tab, you’ll see read-only fields showing:

  • The unique Media Item ID

  • The original filename

  • The creation and last modified timestamps

These are useful for content tracking and system auditing.

✅ Summary

The Other tab in Myriad Playout 6 provides powerful tools for customizing media playback, managing content lifecycles, and connecting with external systems. It’s especially valuable for:

  • Playback volume fine-tuning

  • Auto-binding related audio

  • Metadata enrichment for reporting and automation

  • Date-based control and deletion
