Accurate title and artist information is key for clean scheduling, clear presenter display, and proper enforcement of artist separation rules. Myriad Playout 6 provides a streamlined way to edit and manage this information through the Edit Window.
? Opening the Edit Window
To start editing metadata for any media item:
Option 1: Click the media item on the Media Wall, then click Edit from the toolbar ribbon
Option 2: Right-click the media item and choose Edit
This will open the Edit Window, where you can manage all metadata fields.
? Editing Title, Artist, and Description
Inside the Edit Window:
? Title
Simply type directly into the Title field to update it.
? Artist
The first artist is visible and editable.
Click the plus (+) button to add additional artists.
This ensures correct use of artist separation rules, especially for duets or collaborations.
? Description
You can optionally add a third field for description.
This is not used for scheduling but may provide extra information useful to presenters.
⚠️ Artist Separation Warning: Featuring Artists
Artist separation rules rely on having each performer listed individually. However, metadata often includes full strings like:
“The Chainsmokers featuring Daya”
This would prevent Myriad from correctly applying separation rules against other tracks by either artist.
Good news: Myriad detects this automatically.
If an artist name appears to contain multiple names, a warning icon will appear next to the artist field.
Clicking this icon allows Myriad to split the names for you:
It creates individual artist entries (e.g., The Chainsmokers and Daya)
The full original artist line is preserved in the “Display As” field so it still shows properly on the Media Wall
? Save Your Changes
Once you're happy with your updates:
Click Save
The Media Wall will now display the corrected artist and title info
Your changes will improve metadata display and ensure proper playout scheduling
✅ Summary
Editing title, artist, and description fields in Myriad is simple but important for:
Accurate playout and scheduling
Proper artist separation
Informative on-screen display for presenters
Use the Edit Window to manage your metadata effectively and keep your library clean and reliable.
