Entering Copyright Information & Generating Reports in Myriad Playout 6

If you're operating under a licensing regime that requires detailed copyright reporting (such as PPL in the UK), Myriad Playout 6 provides the tools you need to record music rights metadata and generate formatted reports.

This article explains how to input copyright information for media items and produce a usage report for submission.

? Adding Copyright Details to a Media Item

To begin:

1. Select a media item (typically a song) on the Media Wall

2. Click Edit

3. Navigate to the Rights tab
   

Here you’ll see fields to enter all the necessary metadata required by your copyright organization.

Myriad will automatically:

• Use the Title and Artist from the media item

• Attempt to find the matching ISRC (International Standard Recording Code)

? You can click the search button to view ISRC matches from an external lookup site.
⚠️ Note: There may be multiple matches (e.g., 266 entries), so it’s often best to use the one Myriad suggests unless you know the specific ISRC.

? Additional Metadata Fields

Fill in any remaining fields as required by your reporting standard. This may include:

• Composer

• Publisher

• Rights Holder

• Label

• Work Code

These fields help ensure your reports are compliant with regional regulations and licensing bodies.

? Generating a Copyright Report

Once all relevant data has been entered for your music content, follow these steps to generate the report:

1. Go to the Reports menu

2. Select Play Logs
   
   

3. Choose the date and time range for the report

4. Click Search to review the play log
   
   
   

5. When you're satisfied with the results, click Copyright Report

1. Select the appropriate report type (e.g., UK PPL Return)
   
   

2. Click Generate
   

The system will build a copyright report in the correct format for the selected licensing body.

To save the report:

• Click Export File
  

• Choose a file name and destination

• Click Save

The file is now ready to submit to your licensing authority.
