Stations that use the free Broadcast Radio Audio Monitor application to monitor audio outputs and raise alerts when silence is detected, can now use the Notification Groups in Broadcast.Radio to send alerts when the silence conditions are met.
The advantages of send notifications via Broadcast.Radio include:
- Negates the need to setup a mail server or 3rd party email service.
- Allows email, Pushover notifications and HTTP messages for greater integration with 3rd party systems.
- Allows notifications to be restricted to selected hours of the week.
Please note that in this configuration, the Broadcast.Radio platform does not monitor audio, it is only used to send notifications to the selected Notification Groups once a silence alert is triggered by the Audio Monitor application.
Note: You will need one or more active Broadcast.Radio subscription (Streaming, Myriad Anywhere, Mobile app etc) to be able to access this feature.
Login to your Broadcast.Radio portal.

Click on the Settings menu option.

Before we get started, we will need to make a note of the Broadcast.Radio API key as we will need to add this to the Audio Monitor settings to enable notifications via the Broadcast.Radio portal.
Click on Settings > Station Settings and scroll down to the Playout Integration section, then click on the Copy Key button. This will copy your API key to the clipboard for use later.
In the Settings menu, expand the Myriad / Myriad Cloud option and select Silence Monitoring.

If you do not have the Audio Monitor applications installed, click on the Download Now button to download the installer.
Download v6.9.1 or higher.

Run the downloaded installer and follow all the onscreen instructions. The Audio monitor is a free application and does not require a license code to install or run.
Once the installation is complete, tick the Launch Audio Monitor option and click Finish.

Once the application has loaded, click on the Settings cog and select Settings from the menu.

Switch to the Remote/Notifications tab and locate the Broadcast.Radio section.

Paste in the API Key we collected in the previous step and tick the Send notifications via Broadcast.Radio option.
You can also configure the sound input device, silence level threshold and duration etc in the General tab of this settings window but these are covered in the main Audio Monitor documentation.
See - Audio Monitor v6 - Setting Up Monitor Source Plus Silence Threshold & Duration
Back in the Broadcast.Radio portal, select Settings > Myriad > Silence Monitoring and then click on the Add Notification Group button.
Select the types of notifications the group should receive. The options are:
Silence Start - Message sent when audio drops below the threshold level for the trigger duration (below 40dB for 10 seconds for example).
Silence Ends - Message sent when audio level exceeds the threshold following a Silence Start event.
Monitoring Unavailable - Message sent if the Silence Monitoring service is not running.

To set up an Email notification, type in a valid email address.
You can add a second email address if required.
You can also test the email notification using the Test Email Notification button.
To set up Pushover notifications, toggle the Enable Pushover option on. Then, type in your Pushover Token and the Users you wish to be notified.
You can test the setup using the Test Pushover Notification button.
To set up HTTP notifications, toggle the Enable HTTP option on.
An HTTP message is commonly used to interact with 3rd party applications and platforms.

Select the Method (GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, DELETE) and the URL to post to. You can also set a Username and Password for authentication.
Some 3rd party platforms use a Bearer Access Token instead of a Username and Password. In this case, tick the Use 'bearer' access token option and add the token to the Token Field above it.
You can test the HTTP notification using the Test HTTP Notification button.

Notification Groups also allow you to set the hours of the week that they are active.
You can use the Active Hours grid to select the hours in which alerts will be sent. In the example below, no alerts will be sent from 8am to 5pm.
Click the hour segments to toggle between green (alert active) and red (alert disabled) for one or more hours.
Click and drag over multiple hours to change several at once.
When you have configured your Notification Group, click on the Save button.
